About one year ago, Kelli explained to me what she had in mind for Seasonal Delights. It would be a newsletter of projects and recipes, a collection of old-fashioned activities for girls to share with their mothers. She had been planning it for a while, and the idea had already evolved from a regular get-together with some ladies from church into a newsletter. Combined with my own background in publishing and our combined tendency toward over-achievement, the idea grew still further, and in September 2007, we published the first quarterly issue of Seasonal Delights.

The concept changed still further between that issue and the next, even doubling in size, but we have now delivered a full year of seasonal projects and recipes, and it is time to end.

I really dislike email mailing lists. Specifically, I dislike syncing them up with the main SDQuarterly server, worrying about whether the server is having email trouble, and of course, wondering whether we’re sending out too many (or too few) emails.

There may be other things I don’t like, but those are the top three!

Some people have updated their email addresses on the main site, but of course, those changes don’t automatically propagate to the email list software like they should. Conversely, some people have updated their email addresses on the email list software, but those changes don’t propagate, either. Sigh.

Anyway, the plan was to send out an email on Tuesday or so, explain that the print editions are now available. Then there’s another email scheduled for next week with information on how we’re going to handle subscription renewals, since we’ve delivered the four issues we committed to in the beginning and are having to make some tough choices going forward. Now, though, it looks like it will be one email between the two, and probably still with some out-of-date emails on the list.

Sorry.
