The Straight Scoop on Printing

Aloha! I’m Phillip, and I’m taking over this blog.
Well, okay, strictly speaking, I’ve been writing almost every post all along, but I’ve always done so from the standpoint of the editorial “we.” No longer! Now I write as “Phillip,” and Kelli shouldn’t be blamed for anything I say.
So here’s the straight scoop on things related […]

At long last, we’ve finally ironed out the wrinkles (we hope!) and are able to offer all issues of Seasonal Delights in print!

Bonus: Gourmet Caramel Apples

We provide a new Recipe of the Week for subscribers every Tuesday morning, but sometimes we come up with something so special, we think it deserves “more.” A wider audience, a special focus, something. Gourmet Caramel Apples are one of those things. Many adults think of caramel apples as little more than a nuisance, a […]

To Print Or Not To Print

My head is in a tizzy, as research into print options has scrambled all the gray cells into jelly. It’s a wonder my fingers can still press keys; must be muscle memory!
Lulu.com forever, expensive as that is, or actual printing, with all of the risks and peril that entails? In this electronic age, are people […]

Lulu Take 2

The first copy of the magazine delivered by Lulu was both thrilling and heart-crushing, at least for me. It was better than I’d feared, nearly perfect even. However, there was a problem with the areas featuring white text on the maroon background, as well as all the maroon text in the issue. Kelli and I […]

Lulu Delivers!

I’m holding the first issue of Seasonal Delights in my hand (it makes for difficult typing)! I rearranged my day’s schedule to be here when the mail arrived.
The food picures look even more delicious in print, and the step-by-step insructions seem somehow larger, though I’m sure that’s my brain playing tricks on me.
We’re […]

Lulu Ships!

I just received notification that our Lulu order (one copy of Seasonal Delights Autumn 2007, of course) has shipped! I’m so excited that I can almost forget how expensive it is!
I ordered it late Tuesday morning, and it shipped via “media mail” Thursday evening. Not too bad, I guess. We’ll see how it looks.

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s been 24 hours since the launch of Seasonal Delights, and I’ve already reported on how amazing the response has been. We’ve also had a number of questions come up several times each, so I’m going to try to answer them here.
Q. What tools do you use?
All photographs were taken with a Canon Digital Rebel […]

Printing

As I’m sure is the case with most magazines, printing is the trickiest part. I’ve looked into dozens of options, and I have this feeling, this vague nagging sensation, that I’ve somehow overlooked the one that will solve all the problems. Sigh.
For now, for this first issue, it looks like the best bet for printing […]
